I tried so desperately to figure out an effective way to post this to Twitter, but everytime I tried cutting this theory down to 140 or fewer characters, it ended up sounding like I was outsourcing my Twittering to Pakistan…

A direct correlation exists between how much you enjoy a good stand-up comedy album and who you listen to it with for the first time. On a scale of 1-5 (with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst), here are the various constraints that your fellow audience members impose on a stand-up comedy album’s likability factor:

If you listen to the album by yourself, you can give it anywhere between a 3 and a 4.
If you listen to it with your buddies, you can give it anywhere between a 4 and a 5.
If you listen to it with your wife, you can give it anywhere between a 1 and a 2.

Moral of the story: Your wife is a wonderful person, but she has no sense of humor.
